Anti Roll Bar Link

  Clio Mk1 1.4
Hi, replaced my n/s anti roll bar link the other day, the original one had snapped, but when i unbolted it ( nut at bottom) and came to fit the new one, nothing i did would give me enough thread to put the nut at the bottom again, i tried for hours but nothing worked, in the end i rotated the bar so the nut was facing up, and when jacked up, gave sufficiant thread, is there gonna be any problems with this as the car seems worse now than before!

P.s The nut clears the drive shaft no problems under weight as far as i can tell

When I did this on the valver it was a complete c**t! had to use a jack to compress it enough to get the nut on, is a basterd.

Mine was the same don't do how Renault do them make you have both sides jacked up or it'll be much harder. I think you will have to refit it properly though.
I tried jacking up on the arb but never made enough difference. In the end the easiest way I found was to get around 6 washers and leave the last rubber bit to go on off. I put the nut on with a couple of washers and tightened it up then released and could get another couple in. Repeated that until the rubber compressed enough to let me get the end bit on and have enough thread to get the nut on. It's a bit of a pain but I couldn't find any other way.
Try soaking them in hot water aswell it softens up the rubber a bit.

I think I had a jack on the corner of the rubber and compressed it that way so I could get a nut on enough? fck knows how renault do it ^^ I think haynes says 'refitting is reverse of removal'

I didn't try putting the jack onto the rubber as I was a bit worried about damaging it maybe should have tried though. Don't know if Renault has a special tool for it but I bet they don't have the time to do what I did lol.
Haynes manual talks a lot of crap sometimes!
