Any 150gb Raptor owners?

I've narrowed my new HD down to a 320gb Seagate 7200.10 or a 150gb WD Raptor.

Anyone own a Raptor and want to convince me it's worth the extra money even though it's less capacity.

Dont own one but what are you gonna be using the PC for ??? Games ? or office stuff ?

What will you do with it, it should reduce lag in gaming and cut decoding time when video editing etc? For general use its not really an advantage. I use my Raptor as a seperate "temp" storage drive for files that I'm about to decode and or burn to DVD.

The only real way you will benafit from it is if your going to use it for gaming or as tim said Burning dvds as the fast speed means PC can find and send the files at a faster rate but if your just using the PC for everyday use then the extra cash would be better spent else where imo

PC is used mainly for gaming (no mass storage as such) hence I thought it would be worth the extra.

I don't see the point in high capacity Raptors.

74GB is enough for the OS and games/apps. Storage just needs big monster 7200rpm work horses.

Definetly worth the extra.

Got a few in at work recently and they make a big difference, I would recommend them definately worth it.

I am running the 74Gb Raptor as my main drive and a Maxtor SATA DM9 as a storage drive, i bought it primarily to cut my map loading times down in BF2, it has also speeded up my pc in other areas aswell - internet page loading, transfering files etc, for me it was worth spending the extra money.

IF you gonna be gaming i say you get a 74Gb 10K rapter and another 7200rpm work horse youd get that for about the same you pay for just the one 150Gb rapter

Get a smallish raptor for system, and a big drive for data..

That's kinda what I do (Altho, I have a 15k SCSI drive as system (32GB) and a bigger data drive (SATA 7200rpm))

Worth the extra money, however not worth the extra noise if you have a quiet PC!
