you would see more difference by fitting a decent bend and getting rid of that original one with the concertina section. There's no heat in that part of the engine bay
Lol. Having said that, you might aswel remove it anyway if your fitting a cone filter because it only works with the standard airbox anyway.

Back on topic, as Dan said above there is minimal if any heat over there so no need for heat shields.
