Creating a character which is able to move around the screen etc, it is already able to walk, both directions, jump, but i am trying to make it play a certain part of the sprite animation on pressing space, (basically to shoot a fireball)

What i need to figure out is how to make

"on press space play frame 6 of (sprite name) and play only once"... etc

Anyone who can help please PM me or just say in here and i'll give you my msn.

Its me and a uni friend working on it, it just seems impossible! We get close but no cigar!

Cant you just make it a movie clip and make it play that?

That might be waaaay off the mark, I havent used Flash for years.

wouldn't work unfortunately it has to follow our character everywhere, it is a case of playing a part of the movie clip, but a different part of it when pressing space.

Frames 1-6 are walking and when left and right are pressed etc, but then in frames 7 -14 there is an animation of a fireball being shot. We are trying to make it play the fireball frames on pressing space, but the character can still move etc after etc
