any idea what this switch is or where it is supposed to go?

Found this on top of the sump/gearbox cover when changing the oils. Any idea what it is or where its come from? Seems to be a press to make switch like what would be used on a car door/interior light switch.

According to the service history no registered problsm with the gearbox/reverse switch. And the reversing lights work. Saying that though the bellend who did the last oil change made a right mess of the cover, spent a good while mopping up spilt oil off it so anything possible!

I agree... Its to ensure the bonnet is closed.

its actually part of the alarm

Yeah, the alarm won't arm without it, or when it's faulty. Part of the full closure system.
