Any ideas on how to get rid of this gremlin?

  S3, Polo
My passenger door intermittently WONT lock using the fob.

For reference, there is no 'click' with this door as there is on the boot and driver's door.

However, it WILL lock every time using the internal button.

Any ideas where to even begin the process of elimination?

TIA

possibly a fault with the control coil that recieves the signal from the fob. this coil isnt used when using the lock button inside the car wich leads me to belive it isnt a door solenoid problem.

A Silly Question have u changed the batteries in the fob? it might be sending confusing messages if its low on juice.

I haven't changed the batteries, actually. Will do today.

Where is the 'control coil' located?

I thought the only things involved with locking the doors were:

Solenoid
Actuator
UCH - Control module

I can't see it being the key fob battery, as it simply sends a signal to unlock the door, if it unlocks the o/s and boot then the signal is getting through, the signal doesn't tell the car what to open

Id say its door lock fault, next time it doesn't work give the door a whack by where the lock is, i bet it will work ( slamming the door has the same effect)

That's what I thought!

Think I'm going to have to dismantle the door and check the connections.

Its probably the lock itself fella, my other halfs 182 does it from time to time, a good slam of the door fixes it, and its not done it in months now, see the answer is always slamming a door lol

Gave the door such a slam that the glass almost popped out.

Still got that problem...

Bugger.

I doubt it's a lock issue, sounds more like a control signal problem. The UCH controls locking/unlocking (obviously) but the method used (remote/dash button) will determine the UCH's response.
First thing I'd do is take the door card off and check for any loose connections etc.
