Any Ideas???

  clio 172

i have uploaded this video because i have recently purchased a 2003 172 and it out accelerates my mates 05 182, ive got no receipts of any upgrades so have no idea if it has had anything done to it, i have had a glance around the engine and exhaust and cannot see anything that isnt standerd, (even has a paper air filter),,,,
so really any ideas to why the car seems to accelerate faster than it should???
if the video evidence seems as it should and im chatting sh*t, feel free to let me know

cheers

  Shit little Yaris...
Santa Pod racing I guess?

Looks like it's not a case of your's be quicker, but his being not quite right.

Every 1*2 iv driven, and iv driven alot, there is no 'every 182 is faster than 172'

These cars differ so much, as Dan has suggested cambelt fitted wrong will loose 25bhp, some are abused and give less, some are abused and go like rockets - luck of the draw - you may have a 'good one' or your mate may have a 'bad one' - i suggest not worrying about this as the little bhp/weight difference between a 172 and 182 would only make about a car length at pod anyway, go out and just get on and enjoy them :)

i didnt realise that much could be lost through timing

Some cars are not too bad, the F4R engine is very specific on it's timing, and to time them correctly you need:

a) the correct Renault locking tools

and

b) know the f**k what you are doing

We have heard of plenty of Renault garages timing up cars wrong - specialists here are worth their weight in gold.

One tooth out will knock a good 25bhp off, and the funny thing is it might not be 'that' noticable - yeah the performance will be down, and it may start a little funny, but if it is your first RS Clio, and you have nothing to compare it to, then it would seem normal, it's only when you experience a good one you see what they really go like

Edited my post as realised I was looking at the other 0-60 vid in my folder, a sign that I'm too tired I think so off to bed!
But...
Your 0-60 seems 6.5ish seconds even if the speedo is overreading a little... very quick
