hi, i have made a small animation/banner, and in it i have some text which fades in and out. the next word starts to fade in before the previous word has faded out completely. each word is on a seperate layer too.

its fine when i press enter and watch the animation on the stage, but when i go to preview it/export it none of the text transitions are there, the text doesnt fade in, i just appears and doesnt dissappear. so it looks like all the text is just on top of each other.

can anyone help?

thanks in advance

i cant upload it unfortunately mate.

what it is, the word 'the' fades in. then as it fades out the next word ' future' starts to fade in. it veiws fine when i watch it on the stage in flash, but when i test movie, or export or preview. none of the transitions work, instead of the text dfading in and out, it just appears on the screen and doesnt fade out, then to next word will do the same, so in the end all the words are piled up on the screen.

craig your flash banner is pretty cool, i was looking to have that similar effect with the clouds moving in the b/g. the way i was going to do it was to get an image of a cloud then tween it fromone place to another and repeat, thought that would be the best way to do it.

ok, i think i know the problem (possibly)

when you convert your text into a symbol, ensure that you select 'movie clip' and not a 'graphic' or 'button'

the clouds took me bloody ages to get working properly. I did them in a 3D modeling program called bryce then exported the clouds as bitmapped frames and imported into flash.

im not that good with flash at the mo, struggle with it a bit, but getting there.

iv jus finished this

that didnt work :( nooo. i checked each word (each word is on a different layer) by right clicking on the word>convert to symbol>movie clip and they are all set to movie clip. then exported it and it was the same.

this happened to me yesterday with another flash anim i made, so i didnt over lap the transitions, so one word would fade all the way out before the next one came in and it worked fine, but its not working in this one today :( and in today flash anim i need to transitions to overlap so one word comes in before the other has completely faded out.

what version of flash are u using mate?

so you have:

=======================================
layer 1 - symbol of text 1 @ frame 1 converted to Movie Clip, with alpha at 0%
layer 1 - symbol of text 1 @ frame 10 converted to Movie Clip, with alpha set to 100%
motion tween inbetween
=======================================

=======================================
layer 2 - symbol of text 2 @ frame 7 converted to Movie Clip, with alpha at 0%
layer 2 - symbol of text 2 @ frame 17 converted to Movie Clip, with alpha set to 100%
motion tween inbetween
=======================================

iv had this prob before, but im positive it was because i had symbols incorrectly set. add me to msn if u want pal, ill speak to u tonight, u can show me. im off home from work now.
