Any way of getting rid of the window not genuine pop up?

There's a long winded process I found via Google.

I gave up. I'll blag a copy of Fista when it comes out, purely for FS X and Halo 2.

Don't install the update.

If you have done already, run system restore and do a selective windows update.

go to your %WINDIR%/system32

rename WGALOGON.DLL to WGALOGON_ARSE.DLL
rename WGATRAY.EXE to WGATRAY_ARSE.EXE

reboot

enjoy

Tbh, if Vista wasn't so close to launch, I'd say just buy the thing. You can get an OEM version for around £48+VAT now. Ok, it's only the Home edition, but it's fine for most people.

vista has proper compatibility problems. i ran it for a day and then decided i couldn't be arsed cos half my apps/progs/games/hardware wouldn't run properly with it.

Vista has many many more problems than that, and IE7 is littered with security holes.

XP will be the last microsoft OS that I use. Once Vista is out I'll be looking elsewhere.
