Any way to check emissions before an MOT yourself?

My 182 failed on emissions last MOT (2nd year in a row, I replaced the Lambda last year)

I think it might be because I didn't give it a blast before taking it last time, either that or I need a replacement cat
Getting my car ready for its retest which is tomorrow, Is there any way I can check myself before handing it over for the MOT and potentially wasting my money?

I have an RStuner can you do anything on that?

When I needed to, I stopped by and they stuck the analyser in, however, it is much more computerised now.

The tester can still get round it if required.

Yeah, easiest way is to pop past and ask them to do you a quick check...

It failed by quite a bit. But then it did the same last year and passed a week later after I'd driven it before hand and changed the lambda
