Any way to modify 1*2 lower grille to fit non-sport bumper?

Would like to get the lower grille to match but know it doesn't fit. Has anyone managed to modify one to fit or think it'll be easily done?

If need be I can get pics of the grille and also the bumper.

Oh, and I don't have a lower grille myself yet..

Matt.

Iirc, he used to video cassettes on either end of the grill to give the same effect, and then plastic welded the glue into the middle.

Thanks, Sam!

Just incase you CBA clicking.. lol

wasnt sure whether you guys on here would like it but the comment so far are really good, cheers.

Well, we had to do a bit of cutting to get the grille to fit as there are little flanges on it, then we had cut slots in it so that it would clip into the bumpers clips.
Then, obviously there was 2 large gaps either side of the grille... so we searched all over (The House, Halfords, B&Q) until we came across some old video cassette cases that had a textured black plastic look to them which was almost identical to the renault grille plastic.

We then cut this down and made up two good fitting plastic covers, these were then glued to the grille and the whole thing was attached to the bumper with the clips. Any small gaps or holes left over were then sealed with black silicone sealant.

Job done.

Just an update.. I sourced a broken lower grille which is now on the car. It's still not quite in properly as I ran out of time (ie. 2 clips aren't fully in) and they're a b*tch to get in as it has a crack in it so can't apply force. Will just have to make the slots bigger.

The bumpers coming back off at the weekend so can take a few pics for a quick guide if anyone is interested? This is using n!ck r's idea btw.

Oh, I'm also not sure whether I should use black to fill the gaps either side (like the example above) or colour code them... Will have to do some shops tonight I think. Ideas?
