Anyone bought a CF bonnet off K-Tec recently

Ordered my new bonnet today

Just had a mail asking me if i wanted to take a bonnet that was in stock or wait 4-6 weeks for a better quality bonnet.

They said if i took one from the current stock there would be additional discount. Have mailed them back to see what discount this is.

But has anyone recently bought one of the 'lower quality bonnets' recently?

The likelyhood is that at some point it will be sprayed silver to match the car

Id get a cheaper one and spray it with a silver lacquer, so you can still see some weave though it, but it blends with the car better. (my 10 p's)

Probably means dodgy weave patterns or cracks in the laquer.

your never gonna get a ''spot on'' weave in the carbon mate IMO


from the ones ive seen tho k-tec items are pritty good tho

you can get silver carbon (like on the limited edition BMC CDA's) which would look fantastic on your car

to the best of my knowledge carbon is black, the silver/red/blue stuff is simply polyester woven with similar pattern to carbon (like the 2x2 twill)..

you can get carbon/polyester hydrid fabric, you can also get carbon/glass and silver/glass (hard to source though)..

I have used carbon/blue and carbon/red in the past but its more difficult to work from experience...

my supplier is soon getting some new carbon/polyester material so I'll get some and try it when its in..

I'll get a pic next week but I've a silver 172 and have ordered a CF bonnet and splitter. Will get the original bonnet sorted and put in storage for when I come to sell up, at present it looks like it was polished with a brilo pad and some pleb as smacked it square in the nose with a footy!
