I am desperate to go for a proper drive, car is full of petrol so shouldnt even need to get out to fill up, but expecting ill get stopped. Live in London which makes it even harder.

I live right on the edge of the countryside and my car hasn’t moved for a week I want to give it just a little run at least but I am isolated due to type 1 diabetes even tho would be in the car I might get the mrs to go shopping in it which makes me feel physically sick lol 😂

If you have an accident, break down or anything else. You’re then calling on the assistance of others and potentially removing medical and emergency services that are far more required elsewhere right now.
It’s bloody tough on all of us, especially with the sunshine out. But the longer we stay at home, the sooner we can all enjoy the outdoors again

Not as harsh as the questions the police will ask if you get stopped/breakdown/have an accident.

Trust me, resources are thin, you don't want to be adding a single bit of pressure to the system that could've been avoided.

I'd normally take my car out at the weekend but obviously this isn't happening at the minute and as people are saying, it's not really the most responsible thing to just take it out for a drive to keep it charged.

I parked my clio up for 14 weeks once, got in it and drove as normal, first turn of the key.

Why ?!

Far better to leave it for a month than do that. Oil takes 15+ mins of driving to get near operating temp.

All you'll be doing is filling the exhaust with water.. blah blah....

If you're concerned it won't start, take the battery off. Make sure you can get in to the car again without power first through, obviously.

Ensure your key actually opens the door etc

Sometimes being an arse is justified. This is one of those times. Putting other people at risk because you're bored and want to go for a drive is a stupid thing to do.

Sometimes it is, but you could have just said, "Going out still presents a risk, as you could break down or have an accident. If you need help, that's putting the people that help you at risk, and taking resources away from helping people who really need it. It's better to follow the rules and stay at home."

It would have had exactly the same effect and doesn't require words like "spastic". I know people are stressed and suffering from a bit of cabin fever, but maybe going for a walk would be a better approach than being rude to people on a car forum for no reason. Like I said on the main coronavirus thread, some people really need to take a step back before they have a nervous breakdown.
