They probably would be ok on the hardest setting on track I would have to test it out before buying anything else of course :)

Willwood is a manufacturer, the car will have the bias internally adjustable which the standard car doesn't have... has he took the ABS off it?

What the car you mean ;)

Yes I would - ready done! You can expect to pay double or triple the price of the car if your doing it yourself from a std 172.

Has it had a cambelt?

Just get rid of the vagina and decals ;)

Any info about stuff give me a PM.

You probably know the drill Maz but quickly:-

Check for oil leaks,
Jack up car and check for bumps, and wiggle wheels at 03:15 position and 06:30 position for any play = bearings
Turn the wheel - if it doesnt turn freely = bearing [mine seized and cost me an axle]
Pull on the track rod, and other suspension components whilst jacked to see if there is any play. New bushes or TRE if play.
Knocking or vibration through steering wheel on hard accelaration = engine mounts
Check gear changes on hard accleration esp in 3rd.

Edde are you saying that I will not be able to tow this car on the transporter because its not legal ?? :S I am very confused now !!
Yep possibly check the towing weight of the car my parents Forester could tow 1.6 tonnes I think but the car only weighted 1.3 so whilst it was tested to tow 1.6 tones I coulnd't drive it and tow more than 1.3 tones as my lince said the trailer had to weight at nost either the max towing weight of the car (1.6 tones) or the maximum emply weight of the car (1.3 tones) so I was stuck with a legal limit of 1.3 tones. The trrailer i had was heavy you can get brian James etc for 400kg etc but ther expensive hme made ones are very heavy.
TBH I didn't know there were legalities about towing etc, it will be towed on a 2.4L V6 VW, do you think that will be a problem ??

I guess by posting this thread I was looking for advice as to if I should go ahead and buy this car or should continue looking.
Keep looking RWD is a better idea MR2/MX5
Check the weights of the car and the towing weights 2.4 liter should be fine better if its a manual though Austos often arn't suited to towing heavy trailers unless there very powerful cars.

Hmm not sure about the cam belt .. need to make a list of questions to ask, can you think of anything else ??

Why is he selling it.

If you cannot/won't drive it on the road to test then I'd be wary maye its got a worn gearbox etc.

Maz what about a proper race car?

Some series have ended so they will be up for sale.

I know it sounds stupid and even my car is quicker but the 2CV arn't a bad ideal £2k to build one and theres a cheap race series get your licence and go proper racing.

OR you could buy one of those Logan race cars £2.7 for a brand new one only a 1.6 16V miaybe a bit more power 120 de to the parts it has but its brand new ready to race.

Is that the £3k 300hp one? I posted up earlier looked a good buy. Then again a £3k Evo maybe it needs some TLC so not an ideal track car.

Maz I'd no idea exactly but the Evos arn't that light from what I remember so towing one isn't a good idea the all up weight would be huge I'd only bother if you have some big 4x4 with a big powerful diesel engine and a manual box.

As for the 2CV Theres an article in this Month track and race car I'll try and find and send you.

Buy a crashed 172 and so the swop over OK staring a bit of a fiddle as its LHD plus you'd have to ghave the stock suspension but thats a solid cage. the series ending is meansing spare sheel come up for sale.

If only I'd been there quicker humm. The only BMW I'd truly want to own.

Personalyl I'm a bit of a wimp and like cars with some sort of cover but I'd buy a open racer with a full cage its much quicker they weight less so less tyre wear. Otherwsie a 2CV whiclst not quick is cheap and racers are run for them.
