A new 172 steering wheel?

I came out to my car this morning and one of my thumb grips has just melted, expanded and broken off! I couldn't actually believe it.

There was a small crack in it but I cannot believe it can go like this just overnight

£400 was the dialogys price for the 182 wheel and the 172 one is pretty much the same wheel bar the cruise buttons.

Mines recently done the same, Pisses me off everytime i drive it its got a little crack on the back of the wheel.

Im waiting for it to go completely before o replace it, or The Warranty if it covers it?

Warranty will try saying its wear and tear.

People have had them replaced under warranty via the 'not fit for purpose' terms of the agreement.

If the car is under warranty then I'd suggest a call to RUK. That's where I'll be heading tomorrow anyway if I don't get a positive phone call from my dealer!

They appear tro be an utterly useless design, to me there is no way the thumb grips should melt.
