anyone know what this knocking sound could be?

when my mate takes a corner in his 172 its sounds as if its coming from the front,a sometimes loudish knocking noise,someone said it could be the cv joint? anyone shed some light in the matter!

Take the car onto a carpark, and drive it in full lock both ways, inc reverse. This should show its little head.

Then you can work it out..

mine did that took it back to renault they knew what it was i cant remember what they said lol but they had to cut somthing off from by the wheels i know this aint much of a help sorry

Officially known as "Knocking Noise From Front When Turning", quote "Technical Bulletin (TI) 1505" to your friendly local dealer and they will be able to pull up full details of the work required to fix it. Its caused by the "suspension turret fouling the top of the damper piston."

The work doesn't always fix it and there have been issues where dealers haven't rust-proofed the work they have done (lots of grinding). You have two choices, live with it and enjoy the car, or keep taking it back to the dealer every week until you are completely fed up with Renault, the dealership and the car.
