There's a ph1 172 with itbs floating around.

Mmmm they are nice. Completely stripped out 1600 with itb's and a sequential box would be awsome. Prima do the kit also for the ph1 shape. infact there was a silver ph1 on Piston heads some months back that had been done really well, it just needed all the right engine mods.

the thing that puts me off those sort of conversions, is unless you can actually get the correct suspension etc, then you have to run spacers which is shite.

Like Bic's 106 for example, he sourced genuine 106 maxi suspension and drive train, so not only does it look the real deal, it handles like it to.

Yeah - I thought about it for 1 second, then had that exact same thought!

Spacers would ruin it!

i am really thinking of doing this... but i want to find a good kit.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. I agree, if you are going to do a job you may as well do it properly otherwise, metaphorically speaking, it'll be all mouth and no trousers.

that ph1 was for sale where i bought my clio from, had a look around it and it wasn't the best quality, something about it looked wrong.

think a couple of people test drove it on here and said it was ok.

for sure you can get the parts, but the cost would be serious. Which 99% of people are not gonna stump up.

SMD Racing do a ful wide arch kit, not sure on how good it is mind!

what power do the 1600's make then?

well they used to run individual throttle bodies, at about 225bhp.

but then the rules changed to a single throttle body, and i think they now produce around 205 bhp.

not forgetting thats from a 1.6 lump. super high revs too!

Are the real 1600 bodies all origional body work? I didnt think it was a body kit. Plus someone do it!

High revving, high compression single throttle body though and frequent rebuilds iirc.
