I also have a set of R1Rs for wets but I'm about to sell them on because they're only really good in absolutely torrential rain and anything else the AO52s are better. Last outing at Castle Combe we were running rings around most of the 40 car grid, qualifying 3rd until the gearbox failed.Thx for the input mate! but How about on the wet? For R1R...they r better than ad08r I wonder 052's r even better? I had several semi slick before the R1R r seems the best on the wet
Would you point me out where is the best place to order a set? The best price I found for 195/50/15 was around £130 eachI also have a set of R1Rs for wets but I'm about to sell them on because they're only really good in absolutely torrential rain and anything else the AO52s are better. 050 r road legal in uk ?
We use Adams and Page https://adamsandpage.co.uk/ As they sponsor the CSCC who we race with so we get a bit of a discount. £130 sounds about right and if you offset that cost against not needing a set of wets they're good value!Would you point me out where is the best place to order a set? AO50s aren't road legal. AO52s are.050 r road legal in uk ?
I've used A052's on 2 occasions recently at Cadwell and Donington. Both times it was wet going to dry, no real standing water and i found them to be shockingly good. Mine are 195/50 x 15

Just wondering What's the size for the 052 you used mate? S I know they do hv 195 or either 205/50...am not sure which 1 is better
Have you done back to back testing against AO50?I use 195s at the moment which have been fine. Some use 205s though.

Not exactly. On our pre season test day this year I had intended to do just that. We ran AO50s in the morning and the plan was to switch over after lunch. Unfortunately the engine broke a rocker just before lunch so that was our day over.Have you done back to back testing against AO50?
Deciding if to bite the bullet next season and move from 195 AO50’s to 205 AO52’s..
Thx rob, any pictures of ur wheels with 052 that i can hv a look? Really appreciate it !I use 195s at the moment which have been fine. Some use 205s though.

I hope weight loss updates will be in your build thread? Not exactly. On our pre season test day this year I had intended to do just that. We ran AO50s in the morning and the plan was to switch over after lunch. Unfortunately the engine broke a rocker just before lunch so that was our day over.
Hopefully we'll do the same in March.
I've been tempted to move to 205s but the car will be significantly lighter again by March and I'm not sure we'll need the extra traction.

Hi Rob, is this 195 on a 7j wheel?
How do these compare to AR1's guys?
A052 is the best tyre I've used in the Yokohama range. as James says, a different level.
A050s are marginally better as they have a reinforced carcass and are ideal for out-and-out dry weather.
52s can handle damp and dry situations, making it less risky to rock up to a track day without the need to bring extra tyres.
I was at TDT when Colin Tester was racing with them, having previously run 50s, and he was a second a lap faster.
It's the only tyre I'll use, but I also have some MRFs here which I'm going to try at Croft next week. I doubt they'll be anywhere near as good, but well soon find out.
I've done 4 track days on mine now and they hardly look used. All dry days, bar the last one which had standing water at times.52’s are next level, but burn through quickly in the dry.
They’re mega in the wet too.
Perfect, he'll give you the proper data on them then. I got mine from Darkside and have pre-ordered a few more.Small world, i know Colin.
Thanks for the info
I’m not running enough camber really. But I do drive like an absolute melt, which also doesn’t help.I've done 4 track days on mine now and they hardly look used. All dry days, bar the last one which had standing water at times.
I'd be lucky to get 3 on my other Clio track car, so I've probably got the new car set up bang on. I reckon I'll get a full season out of them at this rate 🤞
Heavier cars absolutely toast them to be fair. I did a new pair of rears in one Nc500 trip in the E92 😂I’m not running enough camber really. But I do drive like an absolute melt, which also doesn’t help.
I got a half dry half wet day of Donington, a dry Cadwell, and a half dry, half wet day at the ring. They were essentially dead afterwards
It'll be different on a Meg but when I was running -3.4 degrees camber on the 182 with 3mm toe out each side, and 30 psi front and 32 psi rear, I got half a track day.I’m not running enough camber really. But I do drive like an absolute melt, which also doesn’t help.

Weird how different chassis need different setups to get the most out of themIt'll be different on a Meg but when I was running -3.4 degrees camber on the 182 with 3mm toe out each side, and 30 psi front and 32 psi rear, I got half a track day.
I was advised by Darkside and Yokohama to run higher tyre pressures and less camber. So I'm now running - 2.5 degrees, 35 psi hot front and rear and 2mm toe out each side. Perfect temperatures across the tyre and as I said, they've lasted 4 days so far.
They're not a reinforced carcass, so will delaminate in front of your eyes unless the car is set up properly.

Yeah. I sent Yokohama my settings, and a picture of the tyre and they fired back with what they recommended. The car is spot on now.Weird how different chassis need different setups to get the most out of them
Mates Ring spec M4 runs then but needs over - 4 camber, runs them at 30psi hot and they last a gold while and don't destroy the outer edges
