You can also run it under Bootcamp, which just requires a re-boot whenever you want to use windows.
But this way it does use all the hardware natively, under Parrallels and VM Fusion, most of the hardware is run under emilation, so could be a bit slow depending upon what programs you want to run in windows. These will also allow you to run any linux buils as a virtual machine as well.
Parallels works beyond immaculately for me. It even lets you run Windows on a different screen, inside a window, or in coherence mode, whereby Windows applications just run on the OSX desktop. It's very impressive!
