Anyone still on 56k?

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
I remember when I upgraded from 14k to 28k and then to 56k and it was the bees knees, so f*cking fast. lol.

Now it is absolutely dire. Just shows how quickly you can get used to something.

Same with Pro Evo on the PS2. To get through games quicker, I used to put it on double speed. At first, it was crazy fast. After a couple of games, I'd change it back to normal speed, and it honestly looked like slow motion because I'd got used to the fast pace.

Lol! I remember paying Netcom UK £29.99 per month unlimited access on dial-up on my 28k modem. I then had the BT call charge on top of that.

I wanted to push for a 36k modem, but they were circa £110 at the time.

How things change!

  Not a Clio
My first provider was The Free Internet (TFI) and you had to pay a years subscription up front! What made it worse was that we had a DACS BT line so the max connection speed was 28k.

Well even though Bt lines are supposedly capable of speeds in excess of 24mb.... Most of the lines around the country are only capavle of running just over 38k.. Inside contacts FTW ; )

In other words they are running them at speeds the cables cant cope with hence why we all get issues every now and then
