Anyone use SLi boards at the moment?

Have you noticed any specific improvement in having the 2nd gfx card in there? Just intrigued as to whether or not it would be worth a Fleabay search for another 7900GTX?

Has anyone used a single card for a bit and then tried an SLi-supported game with the 2nd card running alongside?

Basically, is it great, or a gimmick?

Cheers,
D.

All our PCs are SLi'd here. There's a big increase in performance for running two cards. Now 7900GTX are relatively cheap, it would be a very good way of getting a performance hit for little outlay.

Id sell the 7900GTX and then put the cash you would spend buying another and go for a 8800, DX10 ready.

While the 7900 is worth something flog it on I reckon!

The 8800s are the biggest performance leap nvidia have made in a long time. Very impressive cards. Even the GTS kicks ass.

^They would work, just not in DX10mode I suppose. My boss has two 7800GTX and said there was a massive improvement on certain games and benchmarks.

That's my thinking exactly, Lee. I know I won't have the features of DX10 available to me, but I can cope without those for now.

You haven't got any for sale at your place, have you?

If we had any spare cards they would have found their way back to my house by now. ;)

Had a load of ATI cards arrive the other day. Nvidia don't do so many freebies anymore. :(

I've got a cupboard full of old Radeon X850XTs though.
