Old news i know... However, could i use this as a reason to get out of my current contract with them? I have 6 mths left at a tenner a month but am £25 in credit due to getting someone else to sign up...

Obviously i wouldn't want to lose £30 quid... but it ain't the end of the world either!

Only reason is I have the possibiltiy of getting Orange BB for a fiver on my mobile contract.. so would save me a few quid.

Also i would then have a wirelss router, ready for the xbox360 action etc.

If i stayed with AOL i'd have to buy one and they are like £50 a pop...

SO what you guys rekcon? Worth a try and get out of the AOL contract?

I had an email saying their terms and conditions where changing etc

Ive got orange BB, meant to have an 8 meg line, picks up 6.6 it says, but did an online test ages ago, when it felt like it was running slow, and said it was about 1.6 meg I think!

Is there a decent site to test it on?

Never really had any problems with them, but we were originally with freeserve anyway, which changed to wanadoo, then orange, and never noticed any differance.
Seems fairly quick now, I probably smash my D/L limit every month, and they havent said anything......... yet....

coolio^^

i know the BB' 'purists'' won't like the service... but for £5 you can't really moan? Obviously i would want it to be good etc but i have been paying AOL a tenner a month for quite a while and i don't tihkn thye are superb... it occasionally drops out and sometimes i have to reinstall drivers etc....

hmmm something to mull over.

Seb! Hehe I'm here! :D

Ok I have the 2mb service from them as thats the maximum available where I live. Service is good, reliable and works well. Had a few problems getting my voip working but now its operational I can't see me calling much (famous last words).

Peak time queues are horrendous if you have to call but aside from that its cheap, the phone is cheap and it serves me well. I'd say mobile phone and internet is costing me £65 a month max. :)

cheers darth :)

no worries setting up the livebox?

did you migrate from another provider? did it go smoothly?

Migration from Plusnet was seamless. Setting up livebobx was piece of piss. I've logged onto mine, changed my Wep key, changed my access point name etc.

I've got a few routers being an Tech Engineer and its by far the easiest thing I've had to configure. Just plug in, set machines to Automatically get IP (DHCP) and bang I was online.

I thought so. Aside from my VOIP not working (which I wasn't too bothered about) it was ace. Some call centre chick fixed the VOIP last night so now I've got everything for my measly £5 a month. Genius.

Indeedy. I looked at Sky BB but they did a shocking cockup on my mates house so I called Orange, took out a phone contract for £35 a month (Dolphin). Unlimited texts, unlimited calls to another Orange number and 550 minutes as normal. I got a £4 data package for picture messaging and surfing the net (spend alot of time on trains bored). Then £5 a month for unlimited internet surfing and downloads, and unlimited calls to UK and worldwide landlines... total basic price £44. I spend about £10 on calls and other bits (game downloads)... bit of a bargain imho!

  Better than yours. C*nt.

Any test site will say that it's running slow, because they're sponsored by Spyware-filled software that 'Improves' your connection speed.

Same with system maintenance products really, would you spend your money on something that installed itself onto your computer to tell you that there was malware etc. detected on it and to purchase the full version to remove it?

I sent them a f**k off email and asked them nicely how to remove it from my friends computer before I filed for a court case as it's illegal for a site to install software without any confirmation windows or acknowledgement that it's doing it.
