AOL

I've been on AOL Gold for f*cking ages now. Well, been with AOL over 10 years now, and Gold is £24.99 for upto 2MB connection. Anyway, was going to cancel it yesterday, mainly because I felt like it. Phoned them up, and was given AOL Gold 8MB for £17.99 plus free phone calls for a year. Nng. Oh well. Better than a kick in the knackers I suppose. F*cking gypo's charging me £24.99 for this long when I could have been on the other, faster tariff for less.

Anyhoo.

Indeed. In all fairness, the exchange in my area can only handle up to 8MB at the moment.

I was with AOL up until a couple of years age - They were about the only viable ISP back in the day (like '96! lol) but they are fuckin gash really. Their software is gash. their customer service is gash and their speeds were also gash.

Glad to see the back of them tbh.

(on a side note you have to enter a few bits and peices inot the router to make it work... but google will quickly find out all that for you.)

ah this is the beautiful thing.

the router will log on for you once you put in the right info etc into it.

Just make sure you have the correct instructions from google or where ever when you go to install.

One other thing, when i got my netgear router, i had my old pc that didn't have the correct connection on the bakc. my new pc obviously does. myold pc was like 6 years old so be aware of that.

It really is very easy mate. Even i managed it in the end. and it is a lot better than AOL 9.0

so does that mean u use internet explorer to connect?

i cant really see the problem with aol to be honest, yer their c/s is s**t but what company aint got s**t c/s,

i much prefer the interface with aol rather than internet explorer to be honest, prefer the look of it and the layout

which aol thing?

you can access aol email via their website OR if you install a program called AOL communicator. it is actually quite a good bit of software.

I currently use outlook to access my aol email.

Good stuff. I think I'll have a go at all this. Need one of those router things first though I guess.

i currently work for talktalk..

basically what it is if u take a telephone package with us which is £19.99, u get your call time around the uk for free at anytime and anyday, also includes ur VAT, Linerental and Service Charge! And you also get free Broadband!! All for £19.99. The only time you go over the £19.99 is when you ring mobiles - which you can get 43% discount on if you register 11 mobile numbers and if you ring 0845 numbers for instance you bank or sex line numbers you can get a further 10% discount!

No catch to it, if u want the free broadband, you obviously have to be put into an 18month contract. Broadband is an 8meg speed thingy..lol and 40gig download!
