Apex lowering springs and bit harsh?

These were on the car when I bought it. I'm thinking they look about a 40mm drop.Anyone else running these on standard shocks. Feels a bit harsh to me for public roads.
Might go Coilovers but don't want the same issue if i do. Looking at another post it seems Billy B14s are pretty good?
