Apple Event September 9 2024

Waiting on a folding phone, loved the fold 4 I had but just missing IOS.
 
I’m still running the iPad Pro ML0R2B/A and been tempting to get the newest iPad Pro but think just wait a bit more as it’s still working great 8 years on. I’m still on the 13 Pro Max and was wondering what spec the 16 Pro Max will be, I’ve seen a couple videos and seems like there’s butter changes for the 17. Unless Apple throws in a curve ball that the 16 video leaks and rumours have missed. My Mam still got my older iPhone 10 Max, still going but the battery is dropping more
 
My 14 pro max is due an upgrade.

Anyone know the sizes of the upcoming pro max? Not sure I could take anything much bigger..

The 13 is still current imo especially camera wise. The only big changw came USBC. Over processing is bad on the newer models in my view. The 13 was a great phone and great design.

Interesting to see the new camera comparisons.
 
The main thing pushing me from my 14PM is the lack of support for Apple Intelligence.
Must be able to generate AI memes on the go.

Of course It won't be!

It will have its hardware and software given new exotic names, but will cost twice as much as your old one which is pretty much the same.

Also you can watch all the Apple fan boys w**k themselves into a coma over it🤣
 
Are people still fanatical about Apple since Cook took over?

My first Apple computer was a G3 iMac in Bondi Blue - I still have it. Then, I got a G3 desktop - I still have that too. I continued through G4 and G5 models before transitioning to MacBooks and iMacs - I still have some of those as well. I stopped trying to stay ahead of Apple technology after that, as one product just seemed to look and function like another. It happens when companies get too big.

The 'Jobs' years were great, though, and I always used to tune into those.

Surely it's more to do with the natural development of the technology flattening out rather than Cook vs. Jobs?

Back when Jobs was in charge phones were still underpowered and s**t enough that each year's upgrade was a real, tangible improvement with bigger screens, smaller bezels, better cameras etc.

Nowadays I look at the spec sheets and just shrug as I'm not sure what I actually want my phone to do that it doesn't already do. The screen's as big as I can fit in my pocket, the battery lasts all day, the quality of the photos are limited by my skills rather than the camera, and none of the apps are slow to load, lag or stutter. And that's on my relatively ancient Pixel 6 Pro. About the only thing I want is for ChatGPT to replace the default assistant, but even that's a software rather than hardware issue.

The wife got a 15 Pro this summer to upgrade from her XR and it's definitely a nice piece of kit, but the improvement in six years is nothing compared to the jumps we were getting year on year back in the Jobs era.
 
I'm more interested in the Airpods 4 with the active noise cancellation. I tired the 3s when they came out but after 30mins they became uncomfortable, I couldn't get on with the Pros either.

Ended up with a new pair of Airpod 2s at Xmas but will probably order them as returns are easy with Apple.
 
I wasn’t overwhelmed with the iPhones , nothing I found was groundbreaking for me. What I did found interesting was the capabilities for hearing aids. The watches have some good bit of kit in them like too. But I don’t wear them not for a very long time
 
After my Pixel 6 pro's USB port broke, I bought a temporary Pixel 7 last Christmas for £299, intending to get either a Pixel 9 pro or iPhone 16 pro max. I've never had an Apple product before so am a little reluctant to jump in still, but the LiDAR scanner would be really useful for my work.

I almost bought a 15 Pro Max last year, but was put off by the reports of the phone being pretty fragile, along with seeing countless iPhones out and about with smashed screens front and/or rear. In the 25 years or so I've had a phone I've never had one smashed, and the Pixel 6 pro is probably the first one I've needed to replace due to an issue. Saying that though, it was 2 years old, and I remember many years ago, I'd used to change almost every 6 months).

Yeah I've gone for the iphone pro max. But only as my phone is a 12 and fucked.

I was going to buy a 15 but knowing the new one was coming I held out. So the only reason i've pre-ordered was for the fact I've been waiting anyway.
 
I've ordered myself a 16 Pro to replace my 13 (non-Pro), let's see if it was worth the upgrade LOL.
 
I'll try and hold off for another year if i can, i like all the colours apart from the gold version. Probs seeing it in person is a different matter like

Mine arrives today, it was meant to arrive on Monday but I was out of the country with work and nobody would be around to sign for it, so I had the change the delivery day.
 
My original forecasted date range at the time of ordering was 25th to 30th Sept, so I thought perfect it arrives the day I get back.

Then to my annoyance they tried to deliver it early LOL 🤣

It's here now, but I've not even opened the box yet...
 
I’ve ‘upgraded’ from a 14 Pro Max. I’ve not had chance to test the camera out yet, USB C charging is nice though.

I have an ESR one from Amazon on my 16 Pro, comes with a frame to align it when fitting, literally can't tell there is a screen protector on the phone.
 
Anyone got the series 10 watch? Think I'll get one, 46mm. If anyone knows of a combo deal with the new iPhone that would be good...
 
@Rich-D Have you played with the default camara settings at all? The mrs was playing around with the settings on mine last night and I think she's made it worse..😆 I just want it back to standard.

If you haven't, can I ask a favour and can you tell me which options are checked in the Camera Preserve settings?

Mine are all toggled off, apart from live photo, as I want that off by default.
 
I’m liking the 16 pro max! Went for a generic silicon case from Apple, with a Belkin screen protector. Not sure if I like the case though, might go for one with a bit more grip.

My Ultra 2 gets delivered on the 14th November also ⌚️ 👌🏻

I’ve used Caseology cases on my last couple of phones and they’re decent quality. MagSafe compatible with a bit of grip on the sides.

I’ll give them a look. I had a Mous one on my last one, which was good but the corners began warping after about a year. Not ideal for an expensive case
