Apple ID Question!

I'm trying to change my Apple ID to my Gmail account basicly it wont let me. I can sign into my gmail email ok and sign into YouTube account using it and if i try to sign into Apple to make another another email account or make it my master account it say's incorrect email or password.

I am clue less any help please

trying to add it to Apple as a secondry email first. it needs to send a emial for verification to my gmail so i need to confirm email address and password and it won't allow it
