Are ph1 and ph2 lambda sensors the same??

Car  Mk1 16v brooklands
Reason I ask is I have a suspected lambda sensor on it's way out on my ph1, abit juddery between 1500 and 2000 rpm. After that it's fine
But before I pay out for a new one I've scoured a decent one from a ph 2
 
Ordered one from ktec a few weeks ago, they said they are the same and didn't matter which end you put them on, fitted to before the cat and its 2-3" short "/
