Are Salavge cars worth it

Hello.

Some one asked me this but can’t remember who. If the car I’m selling is repairable salvage on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9861&item=4526751867&rd=1U color=#800080 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9861&item=4526751867&rd=1/U

I did mention it on the ebay description. I don’t know there seems to be some stigma attached to hit cars and people get frighten off. I look at like this, many CAT D and C salvage cars have big potential, and some people I know that have been doing salvages for years are close to there millions. Anyway look at this Clio V6 I’m going to purchased soon for 4500 and spend another 600 fixing it maybe more. Either way I got Clio V6 for less then 6000 and someone else paid 14000 .

I cant see the prob with them. As long as you get them fully and i mean fully checked and theyve been fixed properly....

That car is wrong, it hasnt got the correct dash for starters.

Yeah I was half asleep, thought he was buying not selling hence I removed my post.

As long as you know what you are doing and the accident hasnt been too big then good savings can be made. And as long as you are honest when you are selling it!

i started off repairing cars when i was 17/18

bought my saxo vtr for £600 fixed i for around £1200

sold it for £3500 after id used it for 14 months

there is money to be made from doing so, just a case of if you have the time, space and patience to do it, its everyone elses fault if they dont check the history of the car, if i was asked, i would have told the truth, but they never do

was that a write off???

i know they are a salvage company, but i didnt think pauls lotus was a write off

car cost me 500 quid.

1997-R, 1.4 S Maxim. 38,000 miles!

cost me 200 for new rear quarter, 600 for respray (including delocking/debadging did the work myself)

cost me 1300 to put back on the road, i reckon i could get 2k for it no probs with the mileage.

so yea, theyre worth it, you just gotta make sure you can make a good profit

My bad the passenger side wheel is lightly bent where it was hit, needs new front bumper, drive shaft, wish bone, suspension etc.

I have a friend in France who can get parts for competitive price compare to over here and ebay. Where else better to get French auto parts lol. Doesn’t look too bad at all, in this business this car is perfect, needs no mot until Jan 06 or VIC TEST and is CAT D, took almost 3 years to clear the car, it was sitting their all that time due to Insurance Politics. I’ve checked the Clio V6 ECU with my computer all the airbags are fine nothing deployed. Can’t complain.

Salvage company - someone I know that’s the best way to get cars, when they come in you might no know, for instance if they have a particular car you fancy and is popular, the chances are it be snapped up before you can down your vodka. He called me today when it cleared and I couldn’t miss this opportunity.

Id re-check the airbag situation. From those pics you can see where the seat airbags have detonated.

Im pretty sure these seats aint cheap to replace.

Still seems a good investment :)

Just another blatant plug for the auction imo

Its 52 plate, pics where taken last year, are you jealous? I’ve seen BMW M series; Audi TT the list is endless being sold cheaper then that. Don’t question me, maybe you’re the only stupid one, you sound like bitter guy. The airbags are ok, the side one is tear in the leathers. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TARDE PAY FOR THESE CARS FROM INSURANCE COMPANIES? When you do then maybe I get an apology, look at my ebay auction, where did I get the 172 parts from?

The car couldn’t be sold sooner because it was still under finance, and Insurance companies all have different polices regarding this thus the car wasn’t clear because the owner must have been disputing something with the insurance. You don’t sound like bright guy, anyway you learn something new everyday, Not just about nuts and bolts TO DO WHAT I DO YOU NEED TO BE GOOD IN BUSINESS AND HAVE THE RIGHT CONTACTS, YOU WOULDEN’T KNOW ABOUT THAT!!!!!

yeh if you went through an accident managment company, they could have braught it back for 10% of the value, lol £900,

it is true if you have the right contacts, anything above 10% of the value of the car would be clean profit, say the cars worth 15k, £4500 which he paid - 10% of £15k = nice cup of tea!
I once braught a civic in my prime - well 2 years ago when i was 17, p-plate 20k on the clock 1.4i 3 door, cost me £300, repairs cost me £400, an i sold it 8 months later for just under 2k.:D

Ive bought and sold many salvage cars, i do all the mechanical work myself and have a bodyshop do the bodywork. My latest project is a mk1 172 its cost me approx. £3500 on the road, its a 2001 Y plate with 17000 miles, its very clean and drives perfectly now. Its had Front damage, frnt suspension and gearbox damage. Its repaired back to standard spec. i have done all the mechanical work myself so i no it is sound.
