Are Silvatec bulbs fully legal ??

Reason I ask is I purchased a set from potn as they had buy one 'ultra' (the makers) product & get the second for a fiver (or so I thought)....

They turned up today - not from potn:S no mention of potn at all - the bulbs were sent by skyparts & they are in skyparts packaging:S basically I think they have sent me a load of crap - the is no mention of silvatec anywhere at all & they say 'show use only' so they aren't road legal either

There is no way they are going anywhere near my car !!!
Tbh thye are probably just the cheap copies from ebay - only I paid full whack

Are real silvatec ones (made by ultra) road legal ??

I know that, these say on them 'for off road show use only' though.

I bet they'd melt my lights - I will be on the phone to potn tomorrow !!

I just need to know about e marks etc so i've got extra ammo to whoop their ass.

nah they will be fine. I used some spraypaint on my indicators and made them black and they passed an MOT and haven't melted anything yet.

They'll be fine mate. Very few silvatec bulbs come in the proper packaging. So long as they look silver, and flash orange, not much can go wrong.

skyparts make loads of different bulbs and are quite good quality actually! are they the chrome lookin ones?

They are, i've got two sets of them - no mention of silvatec at all

I'll see what potn have to say & if I have to i'll get it in writing they are genuine - last thing I want them to do is melt my lights !

They flash orange at the end of the day, so I can't see why they would be.

They might not be street legal, dependant on their rating? Can you find it on the lamp/packaging?

i had silvatecs in my old car, and i always thought they were too dim to be legal, especially when you compare them to a silvervision. however they look 10x better than the silvervisions as in some lights you can still see the amber

Tbh I don't want to fit these things to the car, i've seen the packet that silvatecs come in & what they sent me isn't that:dapprove:
If they'd have said they are genuine silvatecs but re-packaged, fair enough, to me they just sent some pikey bulbs through.

I'll call them tomorrow & see what they say - I was hoping that someone who had genuine silvatecs could state to me that they are road legal/e marked.

my silvatecs were e marked and road legal, but just appeared a bit dim. bought them from halfords last year incase you wanna pop down and have a gander at the box

Spoke to potn this morning, who were useless, they told me to call the place who sent them out to me - so I did, expalined what the problem was & why I was annoyed.

He said 'we use potn as its a great way for us to sell our products' to which I hit back with the line, err - your company is listed on the first page of google when I search for ulra bulbs !! How much more advertising do you want ??

Anyway, sending them back later for a full refund. The best do it !!!

Indicator bulbs?

As long as the indicator light fitted glows orange when lit, then it is road legal.

I bought mine from halfrauds for like a tenner and read the packaging thoroughly and it didn't say anywhere on the box that it is for show use only.

I've had my silvatec bulbs in for ages and had no problems. It's also had an MOT with them in and still passed with flying colours.

Worse case scenario is you have cheap imitations, in which case they are probably american or some sh*t and not legal to use on our roads. I know halfrauds is gay, but I would go down there and buy it from them..
