Are We Really That Smart Enough

say, we all want to (or already did) fit better air filter, exhaust systems, suspension kits, wheels/tyres...
but didnt renault spend millions and millions to develop the clio? did they spend all that money and then fitted the car with unappropriate tyres?
just a thought :)

why build a racing car then, std one is enough based on that ideaology.

Std cars are build to the biggest compramise you can think of, the average user.....who just so happens to supply them with money lol.

I think what U mean to say is if Renault spend all the cash developing a new car then theyd build it the best they can.

The problem is with accountants & least cost engineering..!! The designer might have the desire to use the best bits in the car but if the accountants say they are too expensive then a compromise has to be sought.

I think the Mclaren F1 is one of the few cars that have been built without the accountants having their hand in. Thats why it costs 70k+ to change the exhaust system..!!!

road cars are built to a compromise. sure they could make the car handle better by dropping it 40mm or so, but then the slearence is reduced, and the general population mite sturggle.

sure you could make it quicker with stainless exhaust and the like, but this puts the cost of manufacture up, and so the retail cost.

Ill be the first to apologise for my rather blunt reply and I have deleted it. Im at work and surrounded by moaning c**ts because they cant eat at their desk. Not my fault that they cant not eat anything over the course of 3.5 hours... Never mind.

I think the word were looking for compromise when Renault are designing their cars. I mean, look how many people bought 172s and modded them rather than getting a Cup and doing the same mods to that...?

i got the answar i thought i would - compromise
even though my only current mod is k&n filter, i still feel kinda bad :)

i dunno why, really, but i just wanted to share that
dont take it too personally

Wouldnt it be boring if all cars were sorted out of the box though? Manufacturers have to think about emmisions and safety and blah blah. Dont forget that probably only 1 in 20 rs clios ever gets fettled by its first owner

as people say, compromise

they have to put a cat in for emissions = reducing a bit of power

tyres need to be good all round, not really good in dry and ok in wet, but good in both.

the engine needs to be quietish, road noise needs to be kept to a minimum and comfort is still a priority over the handling.
