Assassin's Creed 3

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Confirmed by Ubisoft for October release.

Blimey. I thought Revelations was going to be the last one.

Following a
leaked imageof Assassin's Creed III's main character, Ubisoft unveiled the box art for the game earlier today. While the image doesn't seem to reveal much at first glance, it actually provides a great deal of information about Assassin's Creed III's setting and main character.

First, we know that the character pictured is a new protagonist for the Assassin's Creed series. Ubisoft previously confirmed that Ezio and Altair's history was concluded in Assassin's Creed Revelations but that this year's game would conclude Desmond's story. That means that the character seen here is still a descendant of Desmond's and will be the character we play as via the Animus. Today, Game Informer has also revealed its new cover, which includes an even better look at the character.

The yet-unnamed character features various Native American-influenced clothing and weapons. The typical triangle-shaped hood worn by Altair and Ezio has now been replaced by a crest with the image of a bird reminiscent of Native American imagery. It's worth noting that Eagles have been significant throughout the Assassin's Creed franchise, and the Bald Eagle is famously a symbol of America. The character also bears armbands made of beads and carries both a tomahawk and bow & arrows.

The images also confirm that the game is set during the Revolutionary War, a setting fans have been requesting for years. Three primary flags were used during the American Revolution – a "Don't Tread on Me" flag, a flag with a Union Jack and a thirteen-star flag which was used after 1777. This suggests that a significant element of Assassin's Creed III will take place in the middle of the Revolutionary War, and specifically between 1777 and 1778.

Game Informer's back cover features an officer with a tri-cornered hat. The yellow and red stripes on his shoulder pads as well as the c**kade on his hat indicate that this man is an American officer, and while the image is obscured, it's quite possibly George Washington himself.

Assassin's Creed III is set to hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 30th. Ubisoft has said that a major announcement will be revealed in the coming days, and the game's official site currently features a countdown.

Check back to IGN.com on March 5th at 8:30 a.m. PST as we build to the debut of Assassin's Creed III's first trailer. Expect plenty of new details.

I really hope that this is better than Revelations. I'm quite bored of that now, finished the missions quite quick, the Desmond sequences were pretty poor IMO and it just felt rushed. I really hope that they have had another team working on this for the last couple of years.
Either way, I'll probably get it

This is why I didn't bother with brotherhood and revelations. They were just crap developed by a small portion of the original team.

AC2 was brilliant, so I'm expecting this to be also

Spot on.

Although I did really enjoy Brotherhood. Revelations could easily be skipped and you'd be no worse off.

I didn't buy Revelations because they usually release a version with the DLC content included so decided to wait for that.

Looking forward to AC3 coming out, looks like the gameplay will be very different with guns etc so hopefully they don't f**k it up.

First game footage.
Looks OK, not too sure if its set in the right place or not, time will tell. I'll probably get it regardless as I do like the AC games.

Doubt I'll buy this tbh, loved AC2 and Brotherhood, only did about 40% of revelations before I got bored. That tower defence nonsense was absolute shite.

TV trailers look bloody good.

Released next Wednesday so reviews should pile in over the next few days.

Yeah traded medal of honor for it today. Had a very quick play and it seems good.
Some glitches / lack of attention to detail in parts (during a conversation one of the character manages to speak without moving his lips), some locking on to targets when shooting is a bit iffy too.
I'm off tomorrow so I'll update after a few more hours on it.

Its good. Its a lot better than revelations but they have over complicated things IMO with the assassin wheel, weapon selection and general in game menu.
I do really like the game though. Multiplayer seems the same as they all are (I rarely venture online with it though)
Some of the side missions are OK.

The almanac pages are a f**king pain!

Saw this advertised, realised that I've never actually given the AC games a go. So lent the 1st and 2nd off a friend and currently playing my way through the 1st edition. To say it's the first one, it's bloody brilliant! Makes me even more excited to play the second and acquire the 3rd.

2nd and 3rd are much better imo 1 was a bit repetitive.

Got this, never played any of the others. TBH it's both great and rubbish. Opening mission (trainer mission) is breathtaking. The menus are awful. Controls are confusing. Not as good as RDR. Loading times are quick (a personal bugbear). Not sure I would recommend it - don't have much conviction to keep playing but I will.

Completed it a few minutes ago. They get better as they go along band the story line is pretty good if you can follow it. But it's best to play from 1 through so it makes sense. Brilliant games although never been online with them

Got this off a friend who's gone to Vegas. Starts off a little slow, but getting into it now. Enjoyable

Got this to start but decided to get the other two as well, still playing AC2 at the moment and just arrived in Venice. Not interested in rushing it to play AC3 however as I want to play the 2nd one properly.

Don't forget brother hood and revelations in between 2 and 3. It is a series of games where you need to play from the start. I started at brotherhood and couldn't understand it. So started from 1 and played through.

Been getting into this over the weekend. Besides one of the longest semi prologues I've ever seen, it's probably one of the most ambitious games I've ever played. Really enjoying it.

Combat is amazing, free running is amazing. Everything is spot on, can forgive the occasional bug here and there.
