You need the PC version, that’s why. I’ve got 3 generations of Megane RS, umpteen different Clios and a Twingo Renaultsport. Oh and an RS.01, and…

Only got a laptop and really don't want to spend more on a new pc. I guessed that was my issue still a decent game loving the old escort around brands

There's a Mk1 16v and Williams on Race Department that are fantastic too. No power at all but the corner speeds you can carry are alarming

So it turns out that HDR on Assetto Corsa only works in windowed mode.... I've been playing all this time thinking it's in HDR, and it's not.

With the new patreon only Sol HDR filter, it's bloody epic.

I thought it'd be kinda pointless tbh since it's mainly down to what screen you view them on. But I'll try and get some soon.

However in the meantime here's a couple from my work laptop.

Yes, but not the one that appears at the bottom of the screen in replays - you need to use the app which comes up in the sidebar, and use shutter speed for blur (CSP required of course)

Big updates in the Custom Shaders Patch Patreon build.

Top ticket item is AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution - much like Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling, it renders the game at a lower resolution then upscales it to the display resolution using AI to fill in the missing detail, giving the detail of a higher resolution but the performance of a lower one. Initial testing suggests at least 40% better FPS using FSR. Doesn't matter hugely to me since I can run natively at the refresh rate with my GPU but for lower spec computers this is a massive deal.

Translucent sun strips etc now give off coloured shadows which looks great.

There's also a tool for adding wipers to a car very easily, a brilliant innovation although I've not quite got my head around it yet. I've been trying to get the wipers working on my C30 for frickin' months so this is very welcome.

Went a bit indulgent last week and bought myself the GT Track seat and mount - along with the TV/monitor stand.

Only put it together today and could do with making some adjustments. But it is a wonderful piece of kit that sits nicely in the box room. Haven’t done any cable management or anything yet, but should hopefully over the weekend.

Had a two-lap race of the ‘Ring against 23 AI cars with my beloved 787B. Feck - my arms were aching by the end - COVID really hasn’t helped in keeping my arms fit and useful! 😄

Start off with RaceSimStudio, then VRC Modding Team, then UnitedRacingDesign and then and then and then.... lol.
This is dangerous. It also led me to SimHub and button boxes, which I'm very keen on learning more about.

Would love to assign random switches and buttons to something on one of these button boxes.

I’ve got loads of switches on my stick and I can’t remember what half of them do, let alone across various sims etc. That’s my biggest problem with button boxes

I think what works with button boxes though is that you can either scribble at the side of them as to what they do - or just tear off a bit of post-it note for the realism look! 😄

At the risk of sounding blasphemous - how accurate are the AC stock models in terms of speed?

I've found that I'm struggling in gaining on cars during long stretches (such as Highlands Long) with the 787B. That's not against other racing cars as such - but mere modified ones.

It didn't set any power records alight back in the day (1991) - at circa 650bhp, but being ultra light and streamlined, I would have thought it would fare better against some BMWs on track and the like.

I've had a quick test and it seems to pull fine on any BMW I have. Bear in mind that it's got a lot of aero so you need to drop some out for high speed straights but it easily pulls on say the Z4 GT3 even if you give it a 20mph headstart @150. As for cornering performance it's on period tyres so won't be mega fast although it seems about right to me.

Got various stuff downloaded now - mainly based off overall rating. Higher rated/high popularity ones I nabbed - think it's 35 in total at the minute - the majority are cars, but a couple of tracks and sounds thrown in too.

Also got the licence to unlock the Content Manager for AC too - but I've not really started messing about yet.

Messed about with a few more cars today

Tuned RS3

Mugan Civic

E30 race car

I can't recall if this was a standard feature of AC, or an additional one from the Content Manager. Either way, it's a bit good. :)

Had a quick bash with the Alfa V6 on Monza yesterday. I'm getting used to the Variante Ascari section, but repeatedly hopeless at the Variante del Rettifilo at the end of the stop/start straight. I either overcook it badly, or approach it at the speed of Mavis going to her latest Rotary Club meeting. Either way, there's plenty of time to be made up there, so I'm liking that the game has calculated a theoretical 5 seconds off is possible.

Must do better! :p

Really enjoying racing in the rain actually, especially night races around Spa and similar circuits.

Looks great that Andy - was that against actual players or the AI?

I'll have to nab that rain mod - I take it that it works with Sol? I've been having a dabble with Content Manager and it's a cracking piece of front-end software. I was a bit sceptical about paying the developer a token gesture of $5 to get a key to unlock the full thing - but it's worth every single cent imo.

If Kunos haven't offered him a wedge of money or a significant role in AC2, then they will be missing out!

@McGherkin - is the Shutoko Revival Project still going?

I had a look into that yesterday, but it pointed me to that insidious bloatware of Discord again, so I didn't go any further. I think I'd rather install AOL Online onto my PC than that shite.

D, it was just a quick couple of laps against the AI whilst I was having a play with the settings. As @McGherkin points out, RainFX is part of CSP and currently only available through Patreon builds. Given the effort (and ongoing effort) that has gone (is going) into CSP I'm more than happy to send him a fiver a month. Similar with Content Manager, too - some considerable work has gone into that so bought the key to unlock the full feature set.

RainFX is part of Custom Shaders Patch and works with Sol, but is only available in the Patreon builds of CSP at the moment. There’s also a TONNE of other new features in the patreon build so it’s worth chipping in a couple of quid a month for it.

This. I don't play AC much at the moment (and really, REALLY need to buy a decent wheel/pedal setup instead of Xbox gamepad) but still happy to contribute to the efforts. I wish I had more free time as I'd like to jump onboard and contribute some development effort myself!

It is still going but Discord is a necessary evil unfortunately. I haven't followed it too closely of late as it seems to get quite political from time to time. I would like to swing by and grab the latest updates at some point but I'm not the biggest fan of Discord either.
