Assetto Corsa Rally

I know this was mentioned in one of the other AC threads - but I thought it might be worthy of its own thread.

Early access of v0.1 has been released today and I have to say that first impressions are very good. It looks great, sounds good too - but the biggest plus point is the lack of that weird 'hand-holding' that Dirt Rally 2.0 seemed to do for you at random.

That game had a strange steering assist that would occasionally make you feel like you were a driving god. The first couple of times you were smug in thinking that you'd nailed a section of bends - but after a while, you knew the game was pseudo-assisting you. Worse, the corners or sections that you did want the assistance, we're never there when you needed them.

ACR has none of that - you feel like the control (or inherent lack of) with the car on the surface, is purely down to you. Although they have only worked with Kunos as a technical partnership - the v0.1 release absolutely pisses all over the Assetto Corsa Evo release efforts so far. It's already a much more polished and rewarding experience.

I've only tried it with the XBox controller so far - but will give it a go with the wheel over the weekend.

Only cost £17.99 on Steam as well - due to the other Assetto titles already in my library. :)

I picked it up the moment it dropped.
The hype from the likes of Broadbent etc saying it's really good was enough for me, and that was before I realised how cheap it is - for a modern title that's an absolute steal.

I've not had a chance to play it yet myself but I can't wait to at the first opportunity I get.
Saw this fairly interesting review, drove ACR, did a rally, drove ACR again.

If they eventually expand it to have every Subaru ever campaigned, the 04 Focus and the 307 WRC I'll be happy.

Really interested to see how this develops. I hope they make a console version too, as I assume it will require a pretty meaty PC to run otherwise, and I can't be doing with buying another computer.

Runs very slick on my system - a Ryzen 7 5800X3D with an RTX3090 at 1440 resolution.

It looks smoother than what DIRT 2.0 is in a number of places and I've not seen any evidence of texture pop-in yet either from poorly optimised draw distances, either.

Mines broken, car keeps coming off the road into the trees.

Edit: Also can't get the the thumbstick to register for the menus either just doesn't recognise it is there when setting the buttons

Noticed on mine that the graphics started to stutter a bit. Once every 10 seconds or so - went down to 9fps for the briefest of moments.

Downloaded nVidia Inspector and enabled Resize Bar globally - as for some strange reason the nVidia drivers don't always apply this, even when they say they do. Super smooth again after that.

I was curious and checked my setup... resizable bar was disabled on mine, too! It didn't make a massive difference on my system but it was still noticeable. It looks and sounds so good. Even playing on a controller right now, it is so rewarding when you nail a sequence of bends.

AC Evo feels quite flat in comparison.

I'm sure I saw someone say that the damage is only visual at the moment, so doesn't affect the way the car drives.

Booted it up today and had a little play. I have an odd graphical issue though. There is a horizontal scan line that works itself up the screen when driving the car. Not sure how to cure it or what the actual problem is though. It does it in medium and ultra settings too.

I must add I am using my works monitor at the moment which obviously isn’t optimised for gaming so maybe that isn’t helping matters?
