astra HU - display question

my wife has just a got an astra club (98), great car.

anyway she wants her old sound system in it but it has a display showing temp etc on the dash. i know in my old 172 when i swapped the head unit out i had to get a new conector to make the steering wheel remote and display work.

will i need a conector or will the display still work with a new head unit?

worked on my old astra but lost the bit which tells you what radio channel you are on-temperature and clock stayed though
