Attaching a Cup splitter

Lee

Over the weekend I acquired a Cup splitter for my 172. I know a few people have already fitted them to theirs so has anyone got any handy hints?

Also, there is nothing running behind the bumper at the edges, but the guard at the front would take some moving, and I dont really want to go taking that off, so does anyone know if there are any important things running behind there, should I go a little far with the drill!!

ive got a handy hint for you Leeroy, to help you line the splitter up wack it into position and tape it to the bumper then you can check if its straight or not!!!

Theres nothing to worry about with the drill providing you dont go crazy!!

I would do what fred says as thats what I did...tape it into position and then you will be able to drill hole pretty easily! The centre hole should be done for you so finding the centre is easy!

Cheers guys, I was going to try the tape trick.

All Ive got to do now is find a family member with some ramps, I just dont have enough bricks to get the car up high enough!!

good memory mike (good to finally meet you as well mate!)

But yeah DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ALONE! The tape trick wont work, it pulls away from the bumper due to the shape of the splitter. Just get 2 mates to hold the edges in place, push it up from underneath and drill from the middle outwards.

looks top when its done.
