Auto Lights

Does anyone actually use the auto lights on a mk2 clio. or have we all got them disabled like I have.
Its annoying whenever you want to flash at someone etc.
Im failing to see what an improvement renault thought It would make?!

I use them, think they are handy. What problem do you have flashing? I just flick the stalk back twice = no problem.

  MINI JCW
Yes I use mine all the time, i think their good as I dont forget to turn them off and I dont have to turn them off, very idle I know!

use them all the time, very handy. flashing is fine as xzibit said, just one flick on one flick off...

I think they are great, I just choose not to use them, mainly because when I had battery problems they caused my car not to start, and I keep forgetting to re-enable them lol

Also I park my car in a car port, and having them flick on everytime I start my car in the day seems a waste.

  LY V6 with Recaros
I have mine on, not a problem flashing as said. I didn't have them on when I first got the car as I thought they'd be a pain, but much prefer them on.

Got mine on, think they're great, would be driving around in the dark if I turned them off now as I'd forget to put them on!! Is annoying when you go under fly-overs during the day and they pop on but I don't let it bother me that much!

I drive with my lights on all the time so don't see the point.

  BMW M135i
Use mine, nice feature really could live without but if i've got them why not use them.

You have to have your lights on in tunnels etc in europe so thats why they've got auto lights iirc.

Ok i'll give it a try, I normally drive with lights on anyway.
I always have since my cars black I think maybe people dont see me too well.

Its an extra toy to help explian the higher prices of the more expensive models.

I like them and the wipers.

I still fail to see why people drive with lights on in the daytime with the reason being it makes you seen. If people can't see a bloody great piece of metal and glass and the rest coming towards them then lights aren't going to make a difference imo. Lights in the daylight aren't very effective.

I love them! Always use mine, and it means I never have to remember to switch them on leaving car parks at night etc. I like the way they suddenly come on when the weather gets a bit gloomy.

Blown up 182 & Mondeo TDI
How exactly do you turn them on or off?

Anything that mean i have to do less is fine by me!

It did take awhile to get used to flashing wih them though tbh, although now i jsut flick the switchy thing onto sidelights and back a couple of times, dont blind the driver in front then!

Ignition on, engine off.

Flick the light switch from off to sidelights twice. One beep for off, two for on.

Cheers! When i first got the car i was convinced i had been done as the lights didnt come on automaticaly. Then one day they did, must have done it by accident

I like the idea of the wipers but I can never seem to set the sensitivity correctly, they are always not sensitive enough or stop in a heavy downpour. Still impresses my mates tho since they all have crappy cars GOTTA RUB IT IN LOL

I use them, only the odd time I've had to manually switch them on in bad weather on the motorway. Only thing that bugs me is that to switch the fogs on you have to turn the lights on manually even though they are already on using auto.

05 Plate MG ZR 105 Trophy
I love the auto lights, but I to flash people I put full beams on/off very quickly by pulling the stalk.

Were they an extra in the dynamique range?i presumed they all had them, but it appears mine doesn't :dapprove:

Yeah I like them too, but your right, you always seem to be adjusting them to get them coming on at the right time. I do like the way they come on when a lorry is oncoming & drenches your windscreen though, saves you fumbling to turn them on to fast in a hurry.

Nope later Dynamiques (post 51 I think) have it as standard.

I've seen dynamicques withouth them before though I think they were imports.

Because it's far easier to see things that emit light, like the sun for example.

I have had a Ph2 (51 plate) and currently have a Ph3 (05 plate) Dynamique. Only my current phase 3 has the auto lights and wipers, was standard when I ordered the car. The phase 2 I had did not have them.

Bit annoying having them only as an option on the 197 but I have ordered climate control so it comes part of that. Weird how they come as part of the climate control package and not the Xenon package, which I have also chosen.

Down to the looms, the climate control top loom looms needs the interier sensor so they only stick that loom in if you need it.

In sunny conditions the ambient light will be brighter than the car light rendering it pretty useless.

Here is a few examples why you should have them on:

If people can't see those cars when driving they shouldn't be driving in the first place. Again, if they can't see them I can't see the lights doing that much tbh.
