auto locking doors

  182

The doors will unlock in a crash! A few years back my airbag sensor was wayyyyy too sensitive and the airbag went off after coming down a speed bump, the doors unlocked then.

Thats not what i experienced when i stuck my 172 into a motorway barrier and span it 180 degrees . The airbags never went off and the doors remained locked .

According to the manual they will remained locked in the event of an accident .

I remember reading a few years back a lambo fliped and was upside down owner trapped inside as doors couldn open, it caught on fire and the guy ended up being burnt to death!!!

TBH being French, whatever way it's meant to work, probably wont work, so I wouldn't worry too much. Leave them unlocked and they'll probably lock in a crash, without the airbags going off. I'm serious BTW.

;)

f**k, Thought if the airbags go off the doors would unlock at least. Dont use door lock that much but its silly they dont unlock in a crash situation.

TBH any serious accident where you couldn't open your own door, I think it's quite likely they wouldn't mecahnically open anway. I'm sure a potential rescuer would find a way to break the glass, although it's likely to be broken anyway. It would be nice if they unlocked. TBH though I think this highlights the delusion of many people - that they think they're in a safe, sealed box. An accident of even remotely serious proportions, and your car (no matter how many 'stars' it has) is going to crumple like a steak & kidney pie foil tray. Locked doors will be the least of your problems.

hi there,
the purpose of the RAID system is stop people opening your car from the outside ie carjacking/handbags on passenger seats etc, if you look at the handbook it say it might make it difficult for people to help you in the event of an accident(opening doors from the outside)but the doors locking mech will always work from the inside even if the battery power is cut but that still wont help if the car doors are jammed shut due to the accident as with all cars

It never occured that the doors wouldn't open if you flipped a lambo.

Must be bloody hard flipping a lambo though!

Are you sure he wasn't in a Lamborghini Countach? You would struggle with one of those:D

I always have the auto locks on, you never know what random scrote might try and get in the car.

In an emergency, simply stamp on the brake pedal as hard as possible whilst extending the forefinger of the left hand to flip the central locking button. Like heel-and-toe or cadence braking, it takes a bit of practice but you'll perfect it in the end.
