Mk1 Clio 1.4 RT Auto
Hello there, me and my girlfriend have just bought a Mk1 Phase1 1.4 Clio RT Automatic from a car auction.
I am fairly knowledgable on cars but have no experience in the dark arts of automatics
Basically when we pull away from cold it acts like a manual car would with a slipping clutch. When the car/autobox has warmed up then it doesn't "slip" so much to the point that it is bearable. Perhaps it could do with an oil change? The gauge reads that the box is nearly full of oil.
When cruising along and you put your foot down say when you're going up hill then the box tries changing down but doesn't and does this over and over and over. Kick down adjustment perhaps? Any other ideas?
Finally where the driveshafts come out of the diff it leaks profusely on both sides. Diff/final drive has it's own seperate oil to the main gearbox. Perhaps the seals have dried out as the car was untaxed for 14 months so was stood. Can the seals be changed without removing the box which means removing the engine?
The gearbox was a recon unit 3 1/2 years ago (we have receipts for £2200 including a new Autobox computer!!) and has done about 10,000 miles since.
Any help would be good thanks
Also is there an on-line factory manual as my haynes manual states that any repairs to the autobox should be carried out by a qualified Renault... blah blah... and has a pretty cutaway picture and no useful info
