Autochanger cable (again)

Lee

  BMW M2C

Thanks to Edde I have an autochanger cable for the existing head unit in my 182 and the autochanger I removed from my 172. The cable has however been cut and rejoined.

When I connect it up it powers the unit but isnt recognised by the head unit as being there. Is there something I need to do? I assume the old 172 autochanger is compatible with the 182 head unit as they pretty much the same arent they?

Any ideas?

Ive just called Renault Birmingham about getting a cable, but they couldnt tell me which I needed so have gone off to find out and will call me back. They even wanted the VIN number of my car!! Idiots.

I think Edde said he wasnt sure about the cable being fully working.

AFAIK the 172/182 changers are the same and the headunit is teh same, just rebadged.

Reno want £86 or there abouts for a new cable iirc, hence my consideration just to get a new headunit sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I know its £86, and over the weekend I was very very tempted to go and buy a new headunit/autochanger package. But I managed to stop myself.

I wasnt to sure about the cable (I canot belive anyone remembered) and had sort of given up. I though Id done a good job on the soldering but theres loads of cables.

Any a new one is 8200 085591 £86.18 inc vat last time I checked but it has been £60 at one time.

Your dealership are truly lazy or incompetant not to be able to find the code without the VIN.

Mate the guy on the other end of the phone hadnt got a clue. I dont think he knew what he was looking at on his screen.

Its ordered now and should be here within the next couple of days. I had to leave my credit card number as they reckon if they have ordered the wrong one I still have to take it. Obviously what we me knowing all the part numbers of every component of a Clio it should be right!!!!!! If hes got it wrong Ill kill him with that very cable.

There only one cable for the cd changer for the Clio so I wouldnt imagine they could get it mixed up.

But this is Renault. So when you do go to prison can I use your car you know just to keep the fluid going round the system after all it would be a shame for it to sit on a drive doing nothing:).
