Automatic headlight not working

  Clio
OK so I've looked at all the treads and I know how to turn my headlights on and I know how to set them to automatic, but the problem is all my lights- side-dipped-back l- back r. no longer work. I've replace the stalk 3 times just in case and I've bought a manual but the manual doesnt show the automatic sensor in the wiring diagram. Everything else is working, wipes, windows, central locking. I've checked the fuses and they are all ok, So now I've been told it could be my uch which is a strip out and a send off jobby,
I've checked the relays under the glove box and they are all fixed in and are not loose,
Any offers would be greatful. Cheers

OK just a catch up, Today I looked through the Haynes manual but I couldn't find an electrical drawing that would show me the wiring of the lights with the Multi-timer Unit in it. Some people call this the UCH. maybe it should be called the OUCH!!! any way I'm reading that removal of this unit may cause the car to be reprogrammed,? is that correct? also why is it that you never seem to buy a normal car, every time I need a part it's always a special part, the book is saying it was the N3, any way just keeping the tread going till I find the cure to the fault, Drive safely!!

are the headlights working with the stalk or is it just the auto function? There are 3 relays under the glovebox which control the auto lights and one for the intermittent wipers.

Unplugging the UCH won't cause it to have a problem. It is programmed to work with the ecu, key fob and decoder ring in the car though so if you wanted to replace the UCH you have to get a matching set of those parts too. N3 is the specification of the UCH which is correct for a car with autolights and wipers

Hi Graham, I have No lights at all, by that I mean no dipped or side lights. I've replace the stalk 3 times with the last one a boxed stalk(new) I've checked the relays under the glove compartment and they all seem to work ok. When I operate the stalk I get nothing, the fog lights work, and the main beam works, the reverse lights work(I'm saying that because thats on the same fuse) and the brake lights work. The lights (dipped lights)on the dash dont work either. When I flick between the auto setting I get the bleep sound which is correct. I've seen the sets of electrics on ebay and sort of put it together that they are all linked. Good to hear that I can take the unit out of the car without it causing the unity to be reset. How easy is it to remove the UCH? I dont seem to be able to find much infor mation on that issue. in the manual it says that you undo 1 bolt and one from the fuse box, is that it? if so I'll give it a go myself.

OK so now I'm up and running again and what a performance that was as well. Turned out to by the UCH was U/S. needed to send it away to a place in Cannock and he did a great job in replacing the mother board. Cost me 200£ but should have been 250£. Any way it got very close to scrapping the car at one point as the money just kept slipping through my hands. Cause was the water getting in through the sun roof and dripping down on to it, so now I've fitted a new gasket seal to the sun roof, just got ready to go for an MOT and then the water pump stopped working on the water washer, it just doesn't stop does it!!!!! so nearly there, thanks for all the comments,
