Automatic lights - side only

I was just wondering if the automatic lights activated the side lights only in certain conditions? Or does it always turn on the whole lot?

Everything, i have mine on all the time anyway.

Whole lot everytime. Useless anyway as you can't flash people properly so I just flick them on.
