Automatic Wipers....

  a black one
Is it me, or is the automatic setting on the wipers just cr@p???!

Everytime it rains I find myself having to turn the stalk round another click as most of the time the automatic setting is not sufficient to clear the windscreen.

What the point??!

They are utter pashment, the fact that the relay clicks everytime is doing my head in, I miss the stalk on my old car which just had various speeds.

It says in the manual that the autowipers must be activated every time they are used, IE switch wipers off and then on to position "B" again. That, coupled with highest sensitivity mine seem to work perfectly :)

When I had my Clio at first they were great with the sensitivity turned right up. Then I had to have the windscreen replaced and after that they were crap.

Mine are good untill it rains alot then they can't decide if they should go in super high speed mode or not.

Mine work ok for me. Like said they have to be turned off and back to auto each time you start the car. I found the sensitivity thing doesn't make a difference whatever setting it's on. For some reason, I thought the sensitivity settings only worked when auto was off too.

The bit that normally controls the speed of the intermitent wipe is the sensitivity adjustment thing?

on manual they still interfear when you stop, they go intermittent till you set off again, i aint keen on this autowiper crap, nor the auto headlights, you flash someone and main beam stays on

Never had a problem with mine either, apart from when it's really pissin it down and they can't decide wether to go super fast or normal speed, it's actually very funny.
And is the sesitivity adjustment just for show? Really can't notice any difference when changing it

Well, I've set the sensativity to max and left them on that setting, the wipers are now spot on, result! Only took me six months to discover the cause of the problem!!

those annoying blips on the swivel sensitivity...which setting means most sensitive... its not very clear lol

I also find the auto wipers a pain - if it's raining hard enough there's no problem, you just take it past the auto setting and on to one of the two manual speeds. The problem is when it's not raining hard enough. I always leave them in the off position when not in use - so there shouldn't be an issue with needing to reset them. What I want is what they have on other specification cars - no sensor, the intermittent has five (or however many), manually adjustable speed options, controlled by what I have as the sensitivity bezel. Complete control! Is it possible to change the circuit to match - bypassing the sensor? Has anyone done it?
