Aux belt change

  blue 182/Corrado
Orite lads! Anyone got a rough price for changing aux belt? Plus, how tricky a job is it? Would you need Renault tools or would most garages be able to handle it without making an arse of it?

Also the centre section of my exhaust is rattling and needs replaced. Rough price?

Cheers

Aux belt dosent need any specific tools to fit, however from what ive read on here its a bit of a pain to do, id take it to a renault specialist if i were you, least then you know it will be done correctly

Bit of an arse, most non specialist places seem to bend the slam panel out the way rather than just undo the bolts and remove it. the tensioner is just a 3/8 square drive, but it's awkward. I've made up my own tool for this which makes it a breeze

I just did mine yesterday, Give yourself as much space as possible lol and it aint that hard.

I ended up snapping half the square drive thing off so ended up taking the spring part off the tensioner, Compressed it in a vice then put a thick cable tie around it to hold it in place.

Installed the belt and tensioner then bolted this back in then cut the cable tie and it works fine. When you take the tensioner off though, put a little grease on the allen bolt and against the engine where the threads are so the tensioner can move freely when its refitted. Mines was dry as F**k

no it was changed with the belt about 3 months ago along with cam belt kit and stuff and a whole other load of things.

Had to change the belt again as it snapped at the beggining of december due to the water pump shaft freezing (cooling system, not enough anti-freeze when it was rebuilt) and the belt just spinning round the pulley
