Tempted to swap my kit out for a 515 and a matching denon blu ray player .. Can't afford speakers yet though so would have to have Audio through TVs HDMI .. Spose u have to start somewhere and build it up gradually!

If anything I'm due a speaker upgrade, I have a Panasonic Viera 50" 1080p plasma, a Denon avr-1312 and Eltax floor standing speakers.
They are the weak point at the minute.

Sorry mate your last post didn't have a question mark so I thought it was a random statement.

If I were you I'd start out with an AVR+Speakers package such as http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packages/pioneer/htp071/pion-htp071 and build up from there rather than a decent AVR and no speakers at all.

Cheers for the responses guys, I've got my joiner m8 coming round to look at modifying my unit if needed.

Whilst on this subject I've been on the hunt since I placed my order for the denon for a set of speakers.

I've gone 2nd hand and got some B&W 601 s1 and 601 s2's and am just looking for a centre! It's spiralling out of control tho as I also need stands and cables etc!!

Might as well get the matching CC6 centre...

Go for a Series 2 though as they are concidrably better than the S1's (that goes for your 601's also).

Well due to budget and the fact I want it all by the 18th jan when my amp comes I've now got:

Rears - B&W 601 s1
Front - B&W 603 s1
Sub - old Yamaha
Centre - to purchase

Both sets of B&W's for £200 which I'm over the moon about, I've read reviews etc and understand they are old and the s2/3's are better but these are my first decent speakers so will be more than adequate. Plus they look great.

I'm now on the hunt for a centre and cc6 seems to fit the bill and will complement what I have, depending on how much use they get will determine how long it takes for me to upgrade them.

The monitor audio vector deal looks to be great but I wanted The looks and size of the B&W's.

£200 for all 4? That is a bargain!
You said in your other post you had a pair of 601 s2? I'd definitely go for the CC6 It matches well for both sound and looks.

My S2's

Is it really worth a 7.1 receiver?

Looking at the onkyo 515 .. It has 4K up scaling etc ..

However when am I going to see 4K on my TV? Probably not in a few years .. Probably also won't be seeing 7.1 surround.

Is the 414 a much inferior unit? It's only 5.1 and no 4K

  2014 Focus Titanium
You might not want 7.1 but you might want to either a) Bi-amp your front speakers for increased sound quality, or b) have zone-2 speakers in a different room. Worth having the option imho. The denon trumps most/all AVR's under £400 so at £250 you'd be stupid to miss it!

  BG 182
As above the denon looks incredible value for Money and is future proof with the 4k option.

I originally had an offer on some 601 s2's but it fell through, plus they needed a repair.

  BG 182
And ye £200 for the 4 listed above. I'm looking at a cc6 to complement but if funds allow I will get a lcr60 or 600. Which will lead on to an upgrade to the s3's in the future. But again it may not be necessary to go mad and I am hoping I find the s1's are more the sufficient.

Mine with look very similar till yours as I have a light oak unit

Got an onkyo 414. FFS it won't connect to the onkyo app.

Updated firmware (I think) .. Why won't it connect?!?

Just picked up a B&W HTM62 centre speaker. So currently have all the speakers but only my old denon 1906, and not managed to get throught to richer sounds to check my price on the 2113

I've just done the upgrade from one box up to seperates. The difference is day and night and I'm over the moon with it.

Looked around for a couple of days and was going to go for the Denon AVR1713.. But in the end decided to go for the extra and get the AVR2113, it's an amazing piece of kit and the sound and quality is second to none.. There are so many settings on there to get the sound to exactly how you want it.. Plus Audyssey give you a good base to go from..

I would highly recommended this to anyone!

Also Richers Sounds blokes are helpful, friendly and most of them know what they are talking about..

I went into richer sounds yesterday having a butchers at all their receivers, primarily to see if the Denon was worth my money.
The salesman immediately put me off it, telling me that Denon don't make a good receiver and didn't rate it at all! Said the same for Pioneer. He advised me to buy a Yamaha, due to the incorporated DSP processor.

The Denon is good but definitely not the best out there.

Check out the reviews in the back of what hifi and have a look at AV Forums.

No, but to say Denon don't make a good receiver is quite laughable. People go on about the great advice you get from RS but tbh I don't think they're all that half the time. There knowledge is no where near as good as my local specialist but if you know what you're after RS do some cracking deals...

Agreed mate, for the price the Denon is definitely up there with the best of them.

I guess it's all about profit margins at the end of the day. What one person deems as s**t another might like, at the end of the day everyone's hearing is different.

As far as I am aware there is no received on the market at the moment sub £300 that can touch the Denon.

It's funny, when I got my AVR1912 they said exactly the same to me, don't get the Denon, get the Yamaha. I opted with reading multiple opinions and reviews and went for the Denon as for the money it couldn't be beaten. I seem to remember someone saying to me that RS have a better commission deal with Yamaha than Denon so always push their products, not sure how true that is but it would probably make sense!

Got my 2113 and am very happy with it. Setup my 2 fronts, centre and sub only at the moment as I still need some speaker stands for the rears, and I've had to remove the feet as my TV cabinet isn't tall enough. This will hopefully only be temporary tho.

It's easy to use, looks great and sounds brilliant. Bargain at £250-280 IMO

I've got my denon running a one box system speakers, sounds awesome, till I can upgrade to some better ones when I move out..

  BG 182
I've got b&w 603 s1 as my fronts, 601 s1 for my rears and b&w htm61 as my centre, with an old Yamaha sub.

It's not even setup properly but it's great. Gonna watch dark knight rises on it tonight hopefully
