AVG 8.0

just seen AVG 7.5 is not getting updates as of the 31st of this month.

Anyone using AVG 8.0 yet? Heard it is a bit resource intensive? Should i go with 8.0 or try something else?

Went to 8 last week, seems to be doing a bit more work than 7.5 due being a bit more featured. Anti spyware is included. Seems to take ages doing a full scan but supose it will if it's doing a more thorough scan. Updates are now manual too.

Dont like AVG 8 at all. Doesnt update everyday by itself, feels slow and clunky to me

crash`s a bit , slow , cant do quick scans to sort adware out

and has some annoying web thing that checks all links from google to see if there safe , which can go slow. u can disable it then it shows a diff icon on systray

hate it tbh , bring back old one

AVG8 = Crap.

Did a spyware scan and it missed a load of stuff on my Mrs PC that thankfully Spyware Terminator found anf removed successfully.

Also feels slow, bloated, intensive and bloody intrusive. Seems to me that they've gone down the Norton/McAfee path and instead of just giving you a useable AV, they want to give you something which is a jack-of-all.

Oh and it constantly reminds me that my 30 day period is nearly up...

Just removed 7.5 Free and installed 8.0 Free.

End of the day it's free.

I've been using it a few days now , seems alright , not really noticed any difference between version 7 and 8 tbh .

I recently swapped to NOD32, or ESET smart security as it's now called (another attempt to bundle loads of products together). But this is incredibly light on resources, no word of a lie, my old PC is up and running at least 4-5 minutes sooner than it used to be!!

I've been using AVAST on my laptop, that's free and seems okay so far. That's just AV software.

I've found that it runs alot better if you install it without the link scanner, it seems to eat up resoures on the PC.

I took 7.5 off and haven't put anything back on yet, might try ESET if it is nice and light.
