Avoiding Renault full stop...!

My cars due for an MOT at the end of the month so just checking the car over early for anything that might need doing.

I need a coil spring for the rear as one of them is starting to corrode at the bottom, figure this will fail an MOT so ill just replace two...

Renault wanted £174.56 for two coil springs, phoned Euro Car parts and Got 2 (which are made in germany btw) for £49.50

Also need two rear wheel bearings for the new discs which are going in >

Renault Charge somthing like £45 for a wheel bearing (just the one)

Euro Car Parts charge £18.55 each! I dont get it, how is it renault can still manage to make profit when they charge what are essentially over inflated prices????

According to the receptionist they are very competitive, wtf !

A Genuine front bumper can be bought trade for £90, which they are still making a profit on!!

Renault retail it at over £200...

Imagine what BMW/Merc make on they're parts!!

Majority of people will avoid them, but you'll get people who'll use them in fear of invalidating warranties etc, with the ridiculous prices they charge they can still make a profit even though alot of people won't use them.

A Renault garage is a normal garage with a Renault franchise.

Renault garages sell genuine parts so your obviously going to pay more there. Service costs will also be more due to them being Renault trained staff and the overheads.

My Reanult garage has only let me down once, other than that their pretty damn good. Because im in there quite a bit lol they knock VAT off the cost of parts so i get them slightly cheaper anyway.

lol, i didnt realise dennis the menace worked for Renault!

I took my first clio to renault and they almost managed to diagnose a faulty spark plug as slipped timing...!

Think ill stick to buying the parts for 25% of the price Renault sell them and do it myself

Depends if u know the garage tho this is where i purchased my car and there as good as gold :approve: i diagnosed my problem with my car and got them to do the work job done
If ur prepared to do ur work on ur car mate good on ya.

You have to admit that £300 for doing just front springs is a little excessive, it really isnt a big job mate.

Dont let the grease on there hands suggest to you there hard pushed

Na not really at my local renault mumfords the quote was £340squid so saved afew pennys there lol
At the end of the day the job is a easy one but one im not prepared to do and i aint goin to any old garage so each to there own

It's not just Renault, all main dealers will do it, becuase most idiots go straight to the main dealers rather than a place like Euro car parts etc
