b****cks - EGP

Just been doing the new addition to the family (white MX5) and, having clayed it the other day, super resined it ready to put EGP on.

SRP was fine, went on, came off okay, started to look nice.

Touched the paintwork, not warm, especially as it's white and doesn't seem to take the heat which is good.

So proceeded to put the EGP on. Did so, left it for 45 minutes, and just went to take it off. Finding that I can take "the top layer" off, but when I look at a certain angle with the sun I can still see the applicator pad strokes and can't get it off now for love nor money :(

No one else will notice, but I will and that'll annoy me. Rubbing harder with a mf cloth does nothing.

What should I do?

I have Klasse and SRP so am I just better off putting Klasse over it again and trying to remove the EGP with that and starting over again?

Raaaaaaaaaa!

Try putting somemore EGP on a panel at a time and buffing off immediately .

I think it's getting too hot at the moment, although the paintwork isn't hot, crucially.

I was thinking about leaving it an hour and putting another layer of EGP on. So you reckon removing it pretty much immediately after I've put it on?

It might soften the layer your struggling to buff off . Try it on one panel and see how ya go .

Allow the car to cool, and remove the remaining EGP with some Quick Detail spray.

Another thin layer of EGP this evening when it is cool would also sort it.

Well, seeing as I haven't got any quik detailer!!!

Looks like I'll be putting another layer of EGP on this evening and taking it straight off then.

Thanks for the advice :)

well, I'm sat here patiently waiting for the sun to drop a little so I can get out there and try another layer of EGP..... :(

well... just come in and I've finished (or as much as I intend to do tonight!).

:)

For a 12 year old car it's come up really nicely, shame about the swirls but they don't look too obvious on a white car and the EGP "overspill" I mentioned above came off with a 2nd application of EGP so I needn't have worried so much (although I only left it on for 15 minutes this time!).

Waxed it with Megs #16 (the old man is borrowing my P21s or I'd have used that instead) and I'm quite pleased with the results.

Photos later when I've sorted out my sun burn!

Thanks for the advice!

James.
