Back in a Trophy…a little more modern though

Hi everyone, I thought I’d share my new Trophy that I picked up yesterday from a garage near Leicester. A bit of an impulse buy if I’m honest but I have been very impressed with it so far (only driven 100 miles). I recently sold my mk7 Golf R as I was getting bored, I’d had it a few years and it was starting to reach 75k miles. I used to have a 182 Trophy years ago and since then I have always had a soft spot for the Clio sports. I’ve had a few hot hatches since which have all been VAG so it’s a bit strange stepping into a Renault again as the controls are all different 😂. Here’s a few of my cars since my last Trophy and a few pics of the new trophy.

Still getting to grips with the car but I’m pretty impressed soo far. I like the Akra exhaust, reminds me of my Brothers CLA45. I may modify her soon, nothing too crazy. Probably fit an ITG intake and maybe look into a remap, still getting used to the torque steer as I have had a lot of 4 wheel drive cars recently 😂

How you finding the gearbox?

Do any of these come with Recaro's? Or seat upgrade of any kind?

The phase 1 had a nice trophy seat option, but nothing for the phase 2 unfortunately

Quite like the gearbox if I’m honest. Both my Golf R32 and R were DSG so I’m used to the auto. As it’s my daily driver it’s soo much easier. I have noticed the gear changes (in manual) are quicker than the Golf R and it kicks down in normal mode quick the than the Golf as well. So far so good

Yeah that sucks a little. Renault upgraded seats were always decent. Shame the trophy didn’t have these options

Yeah they are strong money at the minute i believe this one was a late 67 early 18 plate 25k miles i am sure it was on piston heads

Haha no way! I sometimes look just out of curiosity and never see many yellows with all the options. I was constantly checking autotrader etc for Audi RS3s and then just had a little look at Clios and saw this. I just paid the £200 reserve deposit so I could think about it without the risk of it being sold to someone else (sorry Ben). It’s in immaculate condition and I got the Dimond Bright done as well to make the yellow pop. Only negative so far is the stupid key Renault use!

Looks stunning mate well done, was definitely a good idea on the deposit they don’t hang around long especially ones like this.
I was fortunate to find another one in black though a week later. LY doesn’t half pop it’s a lovely colour

Never seen a Liquid Yellow with a black pack, if you have a track monitor you can adjust the engine and throttle response in sport mode which is better than mapping

I saw that you mentioned this to someone else a while back on another thread. Is the track monitor associated with the RS monitor (or is it the same thing)? At the moment I'm still finding stuff out about the car but all I can see is lots of different pages showing lots of information and that's it?

Very nice mate - mental the prices of these atm. I only bought mine in April for £12k, granted a non-trophy but that's reasonable being on 20k miles. I was initially looking at Trophy's and they were around £14-15k a few months back.
Looks like it's running 225 profile tyres over the standard 205, are they PS4s? It's a good upgrade, I swapped mine over a couple of months ago, looks better and drives better.

Yes its the same Mark, just put the car in sport mode and go to settings on the screen, any changes only come in when you put in sport mode so you can still potter about.

Thanks! The throttle map was set to snow which may be the default setting? Probably explains why the throttle electronically pushes down further once the torque has reached its set point in that map. It's raining here so I'll have a play when it's dry.

I follow the previous owner on Instagram funnily enough.well into his cars and does everything properly👍🏻

Mark the facelift trophy had Michelin Super Sports from new which was better than the pre facelift Dunlop trophy tyres as they just melted when they warmed up. The Super sports are very good in the wet

Thanks mate, it’s got everything. The only option it doesn’t have is the leather seats which I’m not too bothered about if I’m honest. It’s a Clio at the end of the day so wasn’t expecting luxury 😂. I rate the black pack with the yellow, probably one of my favourite bits. The view from the back 🤤. I still believe it needs a front splitter. It looks like the front end just stops all of a sudden like Renault didn’t finish it….does anyone else agree?

With the leather seats you get heated seats and height adjustable passenger seat which is nice and the Bose is a good upgrade as well with the amp in the boot etc. when i purchased my silver one from Rawlinson Renault Ipswich they had a cream one in the showroom with a black pack, every option, which was very pretty car. See if you get to a Renaultsport Trackday they will show you that the face lifted Trophy is a very capable car without modification.
