Bad earth?

i have noticed that when i start the car that the immobiliser light doesnt quite go out, its almost as though its being back lit by the dashboard but the dashboard lights arent on! wandered if it might be a bad earth or maybe the battery on its way out? the central locking button also does the same, when the light is off it still looks dim? any ideas or help would be much appreciated

same happens to me but with the fog light, its a bad earth.

do you know where abouts the earth connections are on a ph2 clio 172? would a bad earth cause the battery to drain slightly overnight?

I've also got some earthing issues. Headlights don't auto-level and the green gear change icon stays lit.

Checked and cleaned the two earth points behind the front headlight by the battery cable, still got the issue.

RegisCup: Someone had wired my MR2 Mk2 wrong so a relay was stuck on, this used to drain my battery over night, not sure if a similar thing could happen with a faulty earth on the clio

check the rear clusters for bad earth / wiring..or possibly corrosion

Has anyone got a list or diagram of places where there are earth points that are prone to failure?

out of interest, would a faulty earth cause a flat battery or cause the immobiliser to screw up? as in the car wont remotely unlcok and immob light flashes rapidly when you turn the iginiton??

there is an earth lead going from behind passenger head light to the battery, i had same issue on my 182 with the green indicator staying on, then one morning it wouldnt start, did a getto job with an earth lead from the battery to the engine and and it started but i still have the green light on, maybe i need to change the original earth lead to remove the green light or can this be reset by renault
