Bad Vibration...

My car (1.4 Mk1) has developed a rattle as the car hits the wrong side of 70, by that I mean the steering wheel starts vibrating. Have made sure all the tyres are the correct psi but still happens.

Possible causes?get the tyre ballance checked?

Yes, I would start by getting the tyre(s) balanced - are they new?
If that doesnt work try getting the tracking and alignment checked.

I am having a similar problem with my Cup and having had the wheel balance checked (twice) currently waiting to get the alignment etc checked.

Just thought about this, you might have a flat spot on your tyres where its worn more than the rest of the tyre when they locked up during the braking test section at the airfield day.

Presuming it is flat spots on the tryes, which I cant spot but there are worn parts will it wear itself even or get worse, loads of tread left suprisingly so dont want to replace quite yet..

Mine had this, i thought it was wheels out of balence, but it only did it every so often, turned oput to be the inner CV joint on the o/s driveshaft
